2011 – Kingston-New London Transit Voyage (June 19-24 2011)

The Half Moon traveled through the East River and Long Island Sound to reach New London, CT in preparation for the 2011 Fresh River Voyage of Discovery.

The Replica Ship Half Moon spends its operating seasons traveling the three rivers that traditionally defined the territory of New Netherland: the Hudson, the Connecticut, and the Delaware. Our travels usually incorporate Voyage of Discovery programs or other special projects, but sometimes, the Half Moon simply needs to reach its next port of call.

For this transit voyage, our crew of volunteers and returning Voyage of Discovery alums have gathered to sail the Half Moon from its current berth at the Hudson River Maritime Museum in Kingston, New York—where we’ve just concluded several weeks of public tours and dockside programs—to New London, Connecticut, where we will resupply the ship before launching the 2011 Fresh River Voyage of Discovery on June 30th.
